Service Description

Adoulam Park is a hiking area that combines natural beauty with significant historical sites. Relatively unknown to the public, it is nonetheless extraordinarily beautiful, especially in winter and spring. This region, the Shephelah or Shfelah Yehuda (“lowlands”), consists of low, rounded hills rising up to about 400 meters above sea level, mainly covered with Mediterranean forest including carob trees, oaks, and pistachios. The valleys between the hills have been cultivated for thousands of years, primarily for wheat and vineyards. These lands were inhabited during the First and Second Temple periods. The park takes its name from Adullam, a biblical city identified from the Canaanite period. The archaeological mound Tel Adullam is located within the park, just a few meters from the Green Line that separates Israel from the Palestinian territories (1948–1949 borders). Adoulam Park is a true paradise for hikers. Visitors can explore the remains of ancient Jewish villages such as Horvat Midras, a key site for understanding rural settlement in the Judean Shephelah during the Roman period. The Jewish National Fund (KKL) has developed hiking and cycling trails in the area and, in collaboration with the Israel Antiquities Authority, has initiated archaeological excavations at its historic sites. To end this trek, you can visit the Srigim Brewery and relax in its “beer garden,” just a few kilometers from the park.
