From Mitzpe Hila to Fassuta

Hike from Mitzpe Hila to Fassuta via Nahal Kziv

5 hrMitzpe Hila

Service Description

A 12 km hike through the scenic landscapes of the Upper Galilee, with a total descent and ascent of 350 meters. This route requires a good level of fitness and takes approximately 5 hours to complete. We begin the trek at Montfort Fortress, an impressive site dating back to the Crusader period. This fortress was part of the Kingdom of Jerusalem in the 13th century. From there, we descend toward the Kziv River (נחל כזיב) and, in the distance to the west, enjoy views of the Mediterranean coast and the city of Nahariya. The Nahal Kziv trail and Montfort Fortress are considered among the most beautiful hiking routes in Israel. This path is part of the famous “Sea to Sea Trail,” which connects the Mediterranean to the Sea of Galilee. With a river that flows year-round, a historic fortress perched on a mountainside, and lush green panoramas, this trail is a must-see. It is especially pleasant in the summer, thanks to the river’s cooling waters (swimming recommended!) and the shade of the surrounding vegetation. The hike concludes at the Abirim parking lot or in the village of Fassuta, where hikers can enjoy authentic local cuisine and explore a Catholic culture that has been rooted in the Galilean landscape for centuries.
