From Nahal Oren to Daliat el Karmel This 9 km hike with an elevation gain of 500 meters starts at the Nahal Oren base camp and follows the Shvil Israel trail to the Druze village of Daliat el-Karmel. The trek begins with a visit to Yeshach Cave (מערת יֶשַח), a natural karstic cavity offering a beautiful view of Mount Carmel. Continuing toward Rakit, we pass through a dense Mediterranean forest of oaks, pines, and arbutus trees. Along the way, we encounter ruins and tombs from the Roman and Byzantine periods, as well as an olive oil mill and the remnants of a synagogue. Climbing Mount Chokef reveals stunning panoramic views of the coast and inland areas. Finally, arriving in Daliat el-Karmel, an authentic Druze village, allows you to explore its lively market and taste local cuisine. This hike perfectly combines nature, history, and culture in the heart of Mount Carmel.
